Many Hands Make Light Work

by Pastor Scott Rees on October 14th, 2011

It's no secret that a consistent theme on which I preach is the way Jesus intends for all Christians to participate in some way in the work of his Church. I can't help it because it is probably the most joyful part of leading in the Church. To me there are a few events that make it all worthwhile, and people finding their place of joyful service to others in the name of Christ ranks in the top three.

What are the other two? I don't know for sure, but I am sure that seeing people serve in their gifts and passions is in the top three. And it is happening more and more in NLCC.

To start with I see Joanne Albanese on cloud 9 as she leads the launch of the Stephen Ministries. Her energy and joy is abounding. And not only Joanne, but those who are helping with the interviews and those being interviewed to participate are being energized by the experience. That is because they are stepping into working with Jesus in caring for other people.

Al Doxsee gets a mention because he made a tough decision to have the Shepherds take a couple of months off from meetings this summer to refresh, and now he's happily back into full swing with the care of people with the Shepherds.

The Elders and Deacons are really doing great work in caring for and overseeing the needs of NLCC behind the scenes. Most people will never know all they do so that we can carry on as a church and so that people's needs and problems get addressed. They love doing it and it shows.

The worship committee is hitting their stide in designing creative prayer times and worship elements on Sunday, and Greg does a great job with hundreds of details each week that keeps everyone well coordinated and creativity happening.

The Youth Ministry Think Tank really did some great work in figuring out how to bring consisten and solid teaching and fun to our middle and high school students. They are really picking up a load and running with it. It's awesome!

I can mention more, but I hope you get the point. The Church is beautiful when YOU all work with Jesus in his ministry.

AWESOME JOB NEW LIFE CHURCH!
